DAY 2

Woke up with a booming headache and an overall feeling of "off." Many times when an individual stops burning blood sugar as a primary energy source the body is hard pressed to switch over to burning an alternate fuel source. The body then goes into what is commonly called the Ketosis Flue, where the body just feels horrible while it makes the switch. I can't say I have ever felt more than a little off when I was doing the Atkins diet (which I did with great success). I notice the loss of energy while the body figures out where its next source of energy is coming from I.E. in this case your fat stores. Once you start burning this consistent source of non fluctuating energy I find that my energy is pretty boundless, I sleep better, and my mind is much clearer.

Now I don't recommend anyone do this diet, this blog is purely for educational/informational purposes. But everyone goes through a process of deciding if they will do something or not. Understand, anything worth doing is worth the discomfort of doing it. Ok, discomfort sounds like shoving toothpick under your nails, but who doesn't exercise and not feel grubby, sweaty, sore, and generally not having fun all in the name of fitness and a GREAT figure.

Here is another known fact, lack of salt will also cause a head ache. There are different vitamins and minerals in our bodies that act a certain way, they are water soluble and fat soluble. The water soluble are urinated out and need to be replenished, the fat soluble hangs around and can accumulate. The odd thing is, salt hangs around for those who consume a higher carbohydrate based diet and salt is urinated out when the diet is low or non existent in carbohydrates. The point of this is, you need salt and you loose it quickly, so you may have to add additional salt to your diet. There are broth packets just for that if your looking for a quick fix.

Don't think there have never been groups of individuals, based on location, living style, and availability of certain nutrients that are not purely carnivorous.

I just found this quote and it hits the nail on the head. My question is, if people can completely avoid eating meat why can't they completely avoid eating plants?

Here is the quote: "We are taught that meat is an unhealthy, artery-clogging, fattening, cholesterol-raising, heart-attack inducing, constipating, tumor-producing food that should be avoided like the plague, and that a plant-based diet is the holy grail of health." found at the following site: http://www.diagnosisdiet.com/all-meat-diets/.

Within the same site here is the list of peoples who are as close to being carnivores is as feasibly possible.

The Inuit of the Canadian Arctic thrived on fish, seal, walrus and whale meat.

The Chukotka of the Russian Arctic lived on caribou meat, marine animals and fish.

The Masai, Samburu, and Rendille warriors of East Africa survived on diets consisting primarily of milk and meat.

The steppe nomads of Mongolia ate mostly meat and dairy products.

The Sioux of South Dakota enjoyed a diet of buffalo meat.

The Brazilian Gauchos nourished themselves with beef.

Most of us fully believe that eating meat high in fat is going to make our cholesterol fly out the window and give us an instant heart attack. Cholesterol is a highly controversial and misunderstood internal event that needs to be better explained all the way around (http://www.diagnosisdiet.com/food/cholesterol/) here is a good site. What most people are not told is that we produce cholesterol ourselves and that it is very necessary for proper function and repair of almost every cell in your body. There is also a link in the article above that delves into this. Sorry to say that genetics can cause over production of cholesterol in some individuals, that is not touched on here.

Out of all this chitter chatter I have failed to discuss what problems I actually have, which have prompted me to give this a try.

AsthmaI have had this my entire life and in the last few years it has given me a bronchial infection roughly twice a year, pretty much every time I get sick it goes to my lungs. Ongoing problem.

Low Thyroid; I take about 3 grain natural thyroid to adjust several problems my body has I.E. supper low body temp, poor sleep and foggy mind, just to name a few. Ongoing problem.

High Testosterone and low progesteronethis is something that most likely occurred over time. To a woman high testosterone is directly related to cramping, bleeding, hair loss, and a slew of other health problems. Ongoing problem.

Low MelatoninI had to add additional melatonin in the evening to be able to sleep through the night. Ongoing problem.

Histamine intolerancethis has caused some what of an auto immune problem over the fact I am now unable to eat a large number of foods that I absolutely love. When your told about 50 of your favorite foods are no longer on your list of available options, you have to wonder if it is worth eating plants at all. Due to this my bodies immune system is not as strong as it used to be and I find myself seriously sick more and more often (see asthma). Ongoing problem.

Food intolerances; milk, soy, cocoa

Tinnitusringing in the ears, unknown cause, kicked in about a year and a half ago after a severe sickness.

Arthritislots of use of hands over the years has caused my hands to swell when I over work them, seen most when writing, drawing, painting and other repetitive motions.

Tendinitisin both wrists but the inflammation is under control.

Bursitis in the right shoulder; inflammation of the bursa, this took a shot of cortisone into the shoulder and physical therapy. Currently under control.

Spinal Bulge4 mm L5 spinal bulge on right side requiring anti inflammatory injections and 3 months of physical therapy. Currently under control.

Ultimately I will evaluate each of the symptoms I have over the next few weeks/months/etc and see which ones are alleviated, which ones go away completely, and which ones take a step back. When you loose weight it affects any medication you are on, it has to be re dosed or maybe even removed.

Stage II diabetes, which is running rampant in the United States can be cured through diet

Date: 2 Sept 18
Weight: 158.06 lb

Breakfast: Rotisserie Chicken (1/4) and coffee.
Snack: Not hungry.
Lunch: The other fourth of the rotisserie chicken and two baby bell cheese melted on top.
Supper: Not hungry.

How I felt throughout the day: Woke up with booming head ache, felt off most of the night but slept pretty well none the less. Before breakfast and after a cup or two of coffee we headed off to climb the hill, this is the time that we can go out and be crazy. It takes about 3 km to get to the hill, the hill has over a 45% angle and runs about 100 meters long. I like to use coondog power but I gave the dog to my daughter, who joined us today. Oddly, I beat my husband up the hill, was huffing and puffing half as much as I did the first time I went up. We also did roughly 4 sprints on the way home. I'm trying to drink more water to offset the caffein. Another oddity I just noticed is that my hands have a slight tingling sensation to them today. On a side note, I took my vitamins. It's 1758 and my headache mildly comes and goes, not so bad now.
